Bush mostly grown on clean, damp, well-drained soil in the sun in full shade. Plants will grow well in a variety of shadowy parts situations, including sunshine or light shades with a few hours of sunshine in the morning or afternoon sun. Plants can grow close to full shade, but are typically less potent and more open with reduced leaf density. The plants prefer soils with a pH slightly acidic to slightly alkaline. Plants generally tolerate pruning and cutting. Pruning should never take place before the last spring of acceptance. Pruning very early in the spring often promotes new tender growth that can be damaged or killed by a late spring frost. Avoid cultivating plants because they have shallow roots. Take different forms by pruning.
